Marilyn C. Christman, 88, of 3121 Joti Ave., Huron, died Friday evening, Dec. 29, 2006, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 23, 1918, in Toledo, and lived most of her life in the Sandusky/Huron area. She retired from the Margaretta Public School System, working as a library aide at Bogart Elementary. Prior to that, she owned and operated the former Mrs. Wallace's Play School in Sandusky and was a telephone operator for Ohio Bell Company. Marilyn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky, where she was a former Eucharistic minister and helped with the bereavement meals. She was also a member of Sandusky Yacht Club and Child Chapter. Marilyn was a volunteer at many different local agencies, and in March 1990 she was named Volunteer of the Month.
She is survived by one daughter, Gail (Bill) Stewart of Moorestown, N.J.; four sons, Joel (Penni) Christman of Greenwood Village, Colo., Dale (Dorothy) Christman of Scottsdale, Ariz., Gregg Christman of Valrico, Fla., and Todd (Laurie) Christman of Sandusky; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Chester C. Christman, in 1987; one daughter, Lynn Ann Christman in infancy; her parents, Carl and Norma (Gundlach) Uhl; one brother, Donald Uhl; and one sister, Mary Jean Uhl.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where a prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Doug Garand will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
