Billy D. Shrigley, 85, a resident of Henrietta, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014, in Mercy New Life Hospice after a sudden illness.
He was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Newark, Ohio, son of the late Clarence and Thelma (Dutcher) Shrigley. Billy proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a semi-truck driver for Norwalk Truck Lines and later was a dispatcher for Consolidated Freightways.
Billy was a member of Henrietta United Methodist Church, the Good Sams, a camping club, and the Wakeman Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and camping.
Survivors include his daughters, Patti J. (Bruce) Barnhart, of Amherst, and Sherri A. (Rick) Paquin, of Guelph, Ontario, Canada; two granddaughters, Stacey (Larry) Schuler, of Amherst, and Shannon Barnhart, of Florida; four stepgrandchildren, Adam and Glen Mingo and Ricky and Ryan Paquin; twin great-granddaughters who were the light of his life, Addison and Alexa Schuler; four stepgreat-grandchildren; his sister, Bonnie Kellenberger, of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; and a brother, Donald Shrigley, of Sandusky.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela A. (Andress) who passed away Feb. 21,2014, after 62 years of marriage; his parenta; and two sisters, Betty Calvert and Marjorie Speaks.
Family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave., Amherst. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Henrietta United Methodist Church, 52148 Telegraph Road (SR113), Henrietta. Pastor Armando Arellano will officiate. Burial, with military rites conducted by Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard, will follow in Birmingham Cemetery.
