Janice Elaine (Butler) Menchhofer was called home on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in Hospice of Lenawee, Adrian, Mich.
She was born Sept. 28, 1947, to William Robert ‘Bob’ Butler and Florence (England) Butler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ronald D. Hughes and Kenneth E. Hughes; and granddaughter, Morgan Ewing.
Janice lived in Sandusky from 1964 to 2000 doing numerous secretarial jobs. She then moved to Northwest Ohio to be closer to her daughters. She most recently worked at Faith United Methodist Church, Bryan Ohio, as a secretary. She was a volunteer for Salvation Army for nearly a decade where she served those in the community with compassion and mercy. She shared her faith and love for the Lord through her kind and gracious spirit with her family, friends and caregivers.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tami (Phil) Baker of Alvordton, Ohio, Kim Baker of Hillsdale, Mich., Renee (Dave Koester) Menchhofer of Oakland, Calif., and Barb (Jason) Ewing of High Point, N.C.; grandchildren, Kyle, Lauren and Abbey Baker and Logan and “Baby Kate” Ewing; brother, Robert “Nick” Butler (Stephanie); half brother, Robert ‘Bobbie’ Butler of Sandusky; nephew, Nicholas Butler of Huron; and niece, Natasha Noftz of Charleston, S.C.
At Janice’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Faith United Methodist Church, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Jeffery Dye officiating. A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. July 12, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hillsdale, Mich. Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider Faith United Methodist Church, Bryan, Ohio, Hospice Home of Lenawee, Adrian, Mich., or the Salvation Army of Northwest Ohio.
