Philip Meacham, 79, Bellevue, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, in Stein Hospice, Sandusky.
He was born Oct. 11, 1934, the son of Marion E. and Marguerite (Summers) Meacham.
Phil was a sergeant with the Bellevue Police Department, retiring in 1986, and was a bailiff for the Bellevue Municipal Court retiring in 2012. He was a U.S. Army veteran, 1954 graduate of BSHS, member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bellevue, the NRA, F.O.P. National, Eagles 490, Bellevue Local F.O.P. 53, V.F.W. and the American Legion. Phil loved God, family, community and Army service.
Phil is survived by his wife, Loretta (McConnell) whom he married July 17, 1955, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bellevue; daughter, Meredeth (Danny Jackson) Ott of Bellevue; grandchildren, Matthew, Isaiah, Jeremiah and Autumn Meacham, Ethan and Grace Ott and Logan Jackson; six great-grandchildren; and brother, David F. (Dorothy Bowes) Meacham of Lake Charles, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Philip Martin “Marty” Meacham; grandson, Zechriah Meacham; sister, Susanne Meacham; and brother, J. Robert Meacham.
Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. Friday, May 2,at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Funeral services will 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest St., Bellevue, with Reverend Julie Lejman-Guy officiating.
