Ruth Emily (Hasenpflug) Spiegelberg, 86 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Rae Ann Suburban in Westlake.
She was born May 23, 1927, in Brownhelm Township, Ohio. Ruth was raised in Brownhelm Township, graduating from Brownhelm High School in the class of 1945. She made her home in Lorain for 65 years.
Ruth along with her husband Kenneth, owned and operated Spiegelberg Orchards for 52 years. She was an active member of the Community United Methodist Church in Elyria. Ruth was a member of the Lorain County Farm Bureau, past president of the Ohio Farm Markets Association, and served as an officer for Easter Seals. Her hobbies included gardening, reading and traveling.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Kenneth E. Spiegelberg; her sisters, Helen Overmyer and her husband Bill of Amherst, and Bernice Boilesen of Lincoln, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph, Gerald and LeRoy Hasenpflug; her sisters, Bertha Hasenpflug, Clara Aisles; and her parents, Arthur and Marian (Brandau) Hasenpflug.
Friends may call 2-6 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held privately by the family.
