Charles J. "Chuck" Young Jr., 40, of Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
He was born March 2, 1974, in Sandusky, the son of Charles J. Young Sr. and Paula K. (Hutchinson) Griggs. Chuck will be remembered as being one who lived life in his own way and being at times outspoken, he truly believed in saying what he thought or believed in. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, music, going to concerts and shows and especially traveling to Jamaica. Chuck was a supporter of NORML and the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by his mother; Paula K. Griggs of Sandusky; his father, Charles J. (Pam) Young Sr. of Port Charlotte, Fla.; sister, Sarah J. Smith of Huron; two half-brothers, Jason Lygren and Chad Young, both of Florida; a niece and nephew.
Chuck was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Hutchinson; and paternal grandparents, Charles and Betty Young.
At his request, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, until the memorial service at noon, at the David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Timothy Nilsen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Cancer Services of Erie County, 505 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
