Sharon C. (Gilbert) Banks, 51, of Sandusky, passed away late Thursday evening, April 3, 2014, after a history of illness.
She was born Aug. 13, 1962, in Evanston, Ill., and lived in Sandusky since 1995. She was a 1980 graduate of Evanston Township High School, and graduated from cosmetology school in Chicago.
Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, and watching movies. She was baptized at Second Baptist Church, but had been attending Family Worship Center with Pastor King.
Sharon is survived by her father and mother, Tom and Trudel Knox of Waukegan, Ill.; husband, Dorian Banks Sr.; children, Dorian (Tiffany) Banks Jr, Chavonne Banks, Mercedes Banks, Clifford (Aerius) Banks, and Denzel Banks, all of Sandusky; brothers, Heath (Danette) Knox and Marlon Gilbert Sr., both of Chicago; sisters-in-law, Paulette Banks-Hereford and Julienne Watt, both of Sandusky; aunt, Oweaner Watkins; uncle, Melvin (Inez) Patterson; special friends, Shajauna Davis and Mary Taylor; 11 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many more who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Gilbert; daughter, Stacy Banks; brothers, Lynol Gilbert and Tommie Onya Knox; four aunts; parents-in-law, Robert and Gwendolyn Banks; and a great-niece.
Friends may call from noon Saturday, April 12, until funeral services at 1 p.m., at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
