Isadore "Issy" Lichtcsien, 81 of Sandusky, passed away Thursday March 27, 2014, in Palm Desert, Calif., with his wife by his side. He suffered further complications from the stroke he endured over 11 years ago.
Isadore was born July 31, 1932, in Norwalk, to Morris and Tessie (Schumer) Lichtcsien.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Elaine (Simon); his loving children, Keith (Teresa), Steven (Sharon), and Susan Lichtcsien; and his three cherished grandchildren, Sam, Kelsie, and Meredith. He leaves behind his dear brother and twin, Nathan (Madeline) Lichtcsien.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Leo (Minnie) and Philip (Harriett).
Issy was a thoughtful uncle and engaging friend to many.
Issy graduated from Norwalk High School and received his Bachelors of Science degree in finance as a proud Buckeye at Ohio State University. He was a dedicated business owner of NBC Stores, Sandusky Steel & Supply Company, and Norwalk Waste Materials Company. Committed to lifelong learning, Issy earned his CFP designation from the College for Financial Planning at the age of 53. He served as president of the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce and Oheb Shalom Temple. He was a board member for Junior Achievement, Key Bank, Good Samaritan and Firelands Hospitals, and one of the founding board members of Stein Hospice in Sandusky. He was a recipient of the Dedicated Service award in Norwalk.
Issy and Elaine loved traveling the world together and were blessed with the special moments they experienced along the way. Issy had a passion for playing and listening to music, which he delighted in sharing with his grandchildren. He loved boating on Lake Erie, especially in his Lyman. Later in life he spent winters in Palm Desert, enjoying golf with his wife Elaine and friends. Issy was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and had a genuine way of making everyone feel special.
Services to honor Issy's life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, at Oheb Shalom Temple, 1521 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Cantor Kathryn Wolfe Sebo presiding. Burial will follow at Oheb Shalom Cemetery on Columbus Ave., Sandusky.
