Judith Papenfus, 72, of Fostoria, died Monday, March 17, 2014, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
Judy was born in Fremont on Nov. 28, 1941, to Gerald and Helen (Sutter) Schmitz. She graduated from Monroeville High School in 1960.
She was a member of the St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. She enjoyed Bingo and trips to casinos, but her greatest joy was spending many hours with her grandchildren and attending their numerous events.
On Nov. 13, 1965, she married Kenneth Papenfus at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde. He survives along with two sons, Charles (Tracie) Papenfus and Gerald Papenfus, all of Fostoria; five grandchildren, Charlie (Dani) Papenfus of Virginia, Kasie Papenfus (Chris Salazar), Kurtis Papenfus, Dani Papenfus, and Cassi Papenfus, all of Fostoria; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Lily Papenfus; two brothers, David (Mary Jo) Schmitz of Clyde, Thomas Schmitz of Union, Ky.; and sister, Gerri Brent of Fostoria.
Judy was preceded in death by an infant son, Kurt Allen Papenfus; and her parents.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, until the Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m., at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Fostoria.
