Anne Slessman Eishen, 94, of Sandusky, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, in Providence Care Center.
She was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Clyde. Anne was the daughter of Martin and Grace (Bolinger) Slessman. She graduated in 1937 from Clyde High School. She attended Fenn College and Tiffin Business University. She married Paul Joseph Eishen June 3, 1940, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clyde. Anne and her husband Paul were owners of Universal Electric, Inc. and Fast Print, Sandusky.
Anne was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sandusky. She was a member of College Women’s Chorus, a charter member and past president of Firelands Chorus, and a member of the Miss Masters and Quarter Tones Barbershop Quartets. She was also a member and past president of Zonta Club International. She was a dedicated Girl Scout leader for all of her five daughters. Anne’s hobby was singing. She was fortunate to sing well into her nineties. Anne and Paul passed down a musical legacy to their family.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (David) Stein of Sandusky, Alice (Chuck) Eddy of Huron, Jane Schwab, Deborah Zimmer, and Arlene (Floyd) Strohl all of Sandusky; 12 grandchildren, Paul Stein, Christopher Martin, Rebecca Norton, Elisabeth Martin, Christine Seyler, Alison M. Gregory, Brian Schwab, Nathan Stein, Lauren Zimmer, Mathew Schwab, Lanna Strohl, Sarah Strohl; 12 great-grandchildren, David Seyler, Bridget Norton, Max Stein, Madalyn Stein, Catherine Norton, Maxwell Stietz, Jordyn Schwab, Cordelia Seyler, Ross Kompanik, Anna Gregory, Adalyn Schwab, Audrey Gregory; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Paul Joseph Eishen in 1989; her parents, Martin John Slessman and Grace Rachel (Bolinger) Slessman; three sisters, Grace Slessman, Alice Slessman, Metta Slessman Meyer; one brother, George Slessman; and her grandson, Brandon Eishen Strohl.
The highlight of her life was being with her family especially at holiday times. She will always be remembered for the world’s best dressing and gravy.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. Saturday, April 12, until a memorial service at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
