Weston Joseph Vassallo, 2, of Sandusky, passed away in his mother's arms as he received his angels wings late Thursday evening, March 13, 2014, in the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, from a rare congenital heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
Born Sept. 7, 2011, in Cleveland, he was the son of Anthony Joseph Vassallo and Emily Lynn Appell.
He was also survived by three sisters, Kaitlyn, Savanna and Lola Vassallo; his big brother, Braden Vassallo; maternal grandparents, David and Robin Appell; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Tonya Vassallo and Ben and Patti Davis; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Alice Appell; paternal great-grandparents, Angelo "Pete" and Pat Vassallo; maternal uncles, Ben and Kevin Appell; paternal aunt, Andrea Vassallo, and uncle, Joey (Melissa) Vassallo; and other relatives.
Weston was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Albert Appell; maternal great-grandmother, Marilyn McCoy-Seely.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20, at Holy Angles Catholic Church, 429 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
