Kathleen (Bunch) Wenger, age 87, of Flowery Branch, Ga., and formerly of Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, in her residence following a brief illness.
She was born April 13, 1926, in Hobbsville, N.C., and attended the Norfolk Business College. She had formerly been employed by Southgate Brokerage Co. in Norfolk as an executive secretary, and was secretary-treasurer of Wenger Enterprises.
While residing in Sandusky, she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Sandusky Yacht Club Auxiliary, served as president of the Ohio Canners Auxiliary, and played in several golf leagues at Mills Creek golf course. She served on the Diabetes Advisory Board of the Firelands Community Hospital, volunteered with the American Diabetes Association, as well as assisting in the organization of the Sandusky area chapter, and was a participant for diabetes at the University of Michigan Medical College.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Leroy A. Wenger whom she married Oct. 22, 1946; and two children, Stephen L. Wenger of Sandusky, and Karen L. Watts of Flowery Branch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ella (Hollowell) Bunch; three brothers, and two sisters.
Friends will be received 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Mawhirter of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
