Edward H. Capelle, 82, of Monroeville, died early Friday morning, March 14, 2014, in Gaymont Nursing Home, Norwalk, following a lengthy illness.
He was born March 28, 1931, in Custar, Ohio, and lived in Monroeville since 1964. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Ed was employed by Erie Blacktop Company until his retirement in 1997. Prior to this, he worked for Barry Equipment, selling Caterpillar Heavy Equipment.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville, Knights of Columbus, St. John Newman Chapter No. 1117, American Legion Post 547, Monroeville, and the Izaak Walton Society.
He is survived by two sons, Mike Capelle, of Monroeville, and Scott (Lynda) Capelle, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; two grandchildren, Bryan and Sarah; one brother, Martin (Shirley) Capelle, of Bowling Green, Ohio; one sister, Kathleen Capelle, of Norwalk; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Capelle, in 2005; his parents, Hubert and Esther (Poland) Capelle; and one sister, Mary Lou Richard.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m.n Monday, March 17, at Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe St., Monroeville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St., Monroeville. The Rev. William Pifher will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.
