Dr. Donald C. King

Dr. Donald C. King, 84, of Norwalk, passed away, Monday, March 10, 2014, in his home. 

He was born March 30, 1929, in Rimersburg, Penn., son of the late Charles D. and Dorothy F. (Hawk) King. Dr. King graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1946 and graduated pre-med from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Penn., in 1950. He served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. 

Dr. King graduated from Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1958 and was named to Psi Sigma Alpha National Scholastic Honor Society. He began his practice in Norwalk in 1959. Dr. King was certified in Family Practice in 1970. He was past chief of staff, chairman, and member of the Board of Trustees of Sandusky Memorial Hospital in Sandusky. Dr. King was also past chief of staff, chairman and member of the Board of Trustees of Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk. He retired from practice in 1993 after 44 years of service, and retired from Fisher Titus Medical Center after 31 years and was granted Emeritus Status. 

Dr. King was a life member of the American Osteopathic Association, the Ohio Osteopathic Association, and the 5th District Academy of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. 

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Gary Shoop, of Collins, Ohio; his grandchildren, Michelle L. Shoop and Gregory D. Shoop; and his great-granddaughter, Angela Miller. 

 He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille E. King, and his son, Donald C. King, Jr. 

There will be no calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at St. Paul Catholic Church, (Social Hall on Milan Avenue). Msgr. Kenneth Morman will officiate.
