Robert P. Tata, 80, of Huron, died Saturday, March 8, 2014, unexpectedly, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Huron, was a Huron High School graduate in 1955, and then graduated from Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1957.
He was employed by New Departure Hyatt, General Motors, Sandusky from 1961 retiring in 1987. After retirement he received his real estate license, worked for Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, General Dynamics, and American General as a consultant. He authored several books and papers for Continuing Education Credit online courses for mechanical engineering.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye sports fan. He enjoyed riding his bike around Huron.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy (Eric Myers) Tata of Tucson, Ariz.; and three sisters, Victoria Bencivengo of Huron, Frances (Louis) Wargo of Port Clinton, and Rita (Kenneth) Garber of Columbus.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary (Esposito) Tata; and a brother, Anthony D. Tata.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Friday March 14, until Mass at noon, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron, with Rev. Jeffrey McBeth, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Milan.
