Charles Raymond "Chuck" Hilton, 78, of Clyde, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, in Elmwood at the Springs, Green Springs.
Chuck was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Oil City, Pa. He graduated from Meadville High School.
He had worked as a radio DJ and TV engineer and retired in 2009 from the pet-sitting business he started in 1989. He was very proud that so many pet owners entrusted their beloved pets to his care. Chuck was a life-long cat/dog lover and was a volunteer and past board member of Sun Valley Animal Shelter in Glendale, Ariz. The stray cats always knew where Chuck lived.
In addition to his wife, Jane L. (Pettys), he leaves behind his beloved cats; Pumpkin, Smokey, Libby, Luckie, Callie, Honey and BeeBee. Also surviving is a half sister, Suzanne Jackson in Meadville, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Hilton; and half brother, Jerry Ennis.
Chuck loved to read, especially anything to do with history, World War II and snakes. He enjoyed reading his daily papers and following the political news. He loved music, especially the music of the 40's, 50's and 60's, the 3 Stooges, peanut butter, Notre Dame football, the Pittsburg Steelers, White Castle burgers, a good joke, old movies, radio programs from the 40's and 50's, vintage TV shows, Las Vegas and California.
Private services will be held. Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, is assisting his family with arrangements. Condolences may be sent to auxterfuneralhomes.com.
