Jean Marie (Lawhon) Nolder, 68, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Saturday afternoon, March 8, 2014, in Stein Hospice Care Center following a brief bout with cancer, her loving family by her bedside.
She was born Aug. 29, 1945, to Marie (Bartlett) Lawhon.
Jean was a member of Holy Angel’s Catholic Church. She loved music, and enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, traveling, taking long drives along the lake and country side, and spending time with her family, especially her grand-babies.
Jean was a homemaker and most recently co-owner of Jerra and Jean’s Sewing Machines in Sandusky. She was also actively involved in Girl Scouts as a leader in the mid 1970’s and then as a co-leader for her grandchildren most recently.
Jean is survived by her six children, Denise (Dan) McClure of Colorado Springs, Colo., Janine (Cliff) Taylor of Galloway, Ohio, Teresa Ortolani and Lisa Traylor both of Sandusky, Joey Nolder of Louisville, Ky., and Jerralina (Bill) Shafrath of Sandusky; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Patty (Mario) Barone of Sandusky; one nephew; and several other relatives.
In addition to her mother, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Jerold J. Nolder in 2005.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. Thursday, March 13, until a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at Holy Angel’s Catholic Church, 1605 W. Jefferson St., Sandusky. The Rev. Joe Steinbauer will officiate. The Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, Sandusky, is handling the arrangements.
