Karl R. Moll, 92, of Sandusky, passed away early Thursday morning, July 14, 2011, surrounded by his family at Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
He was born April 23, 1919, in Gillett, Ark., son of the late William and Edith (Richards) Moll. He was a 1937 graduate of Gillett High School and soon after graduating moved to the Sandusky area. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during W.W. II. Karl worked for Ohio Edison for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1984.
He enjoyed gardening and playing cards and was a true sports fan, having cheered on the Cleveland Browns and was a die hard Cleveland Indians fan.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 83 and a former member and past president of the St. Mary Catholic High School Athletic Federation.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lois M. (Windau) Moll, whom he married Aug. 15, 1941; his family, Peggy (John) Soblesky of Sandusky, William “Bill” Moll of Atlanta and Rita (Leonard) Disalvio of Sandusky; nine grandchildren, Michael, Connie, Brian Leslie, Rick Baumler, Christa, Daniel, Kelly Stobie, Amy Bauer and Lana Marbaugh; six great-grandchildren, Sydney, Aubrey, Spencer, Ryan, Mac, Julia; and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Glen Moll; and a sister, Ruby Richter.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 18, at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, until a funeral services at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 83, Sandusky.
