Clara Sue (Shearer) Dougherty Alexander, 77, of Clyde, passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, in Briarfield of Milan.
She was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Elk Valley, Tenn., to Hiram and Lillie (Lawson) Shearer.
Clara was a homemaker. She enjoyed singing, was a former member of the “Top Hats” in Clyde, and a member of the Church of God and Prophecy, Sandusky.
She is survived by Brenda F. (Dave) Babb, of Cleveland, Tenn., and Sheila (Curt) Holbrook, of Castalia; four grandchildren, Joshua Kirk, Mandi (James) Griggs, Shane Holbrook, and Dustin (Rachel) Holbrook; six great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Shearer, of Clyde, and a sister, Anna (Shearer) Baird, of Lenoir City, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charles “Chuckie” A. Dougherty; parents; brother, Hiram Shearer Jr.; sisters, Geraldine Sharp and Gloria Baird; and former husband, Charles A. Dougherty.
Friends will be received 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy., Clyde, where a funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery, Clyde.
