Elizabeth "Betty" M. Schaefer, 88, of Bellevue passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, in Willows at Bellevue.
She was born April 23, 1921, in Bellevue, the daughter of Edwin and Laura Mae (Kutz) Moyer. Betty was a homemaker and a graduate of Bellevue High School, class of 1939. She married William V. Schaefer June 15, 1941, in Bellevue; he preceded her in death Jan. 18, 2009.
She was employed at the former J.C. Penney store, Anne's Dress Shop and Wright's Drug Store in Bellevue. Betty was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society, The Bellevue Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer in the hospital gift shop. She participated in several bridge card clubs, was an avid reader, a member of the Bellevue Sorority, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, William (Carol) Schaefer of Youngwood, Pa., David Schaefer of Bellevue and Stephen (Linda) Schaefer of Bellevue; daughters, Jane (Kirk) Horn of Bellevue and Cynthia (Frank) DeLuca of Huron; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lila Albright, Isabelle Peltier and Evelyn Moyer; a brother, Keith Moyer; and daughter-in-law, Carol Schaefer.
Friends will be received 4-8 p.m. Wednesday in Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in Immaculate by Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue, by the Rev. Jonathan Wight. Burial will follow in Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
