Dorothy Donaldson Ward died Saturday morning, Feb. 8, 2014, in Norwalk Memorial Home, she was 88.
She was born in Fitchville Township Sept. 10, 1925. She was the daughter of Roger and Marian (Sly) Luxon. Dorothy was a 1943 graduate of New London High School and became a registered nurse after graduating from Huron Road Hospital School of Nursing, East Cleveland in 1946.
Dorothy was a member of the Clarksfield Seventh Day Adventist Church, the New London Grange, New London Historical Society, V.F.W. Auxiliary 2743 of Norwalk, and the Alumni Association of Huron Road Hospital School of Nursing. She was an accomplished musician who was well known in the area for playing piano duets with her sister, Marjorie. She also enjoyed gardening and genealogy.
Dorothy is survived by son, John R. (Cindy) Hooker; and grandson, Thomas (Missy) Hooker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Richard J. Hooker, John R. Donaldson, and Lee J. Ward; brothers, Robert and Dale Luxon; and sisters, Marjorie Kirkpatrick and Norma Shull.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, until funeral services at 11:30 a.m., at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. Pastor Russ Gaskill and Jeff Luxon will co-officiate and burial will follow in the Fitchville Cemetery.
