Edmund D. Matz Sr., 96, of Bellevue passed away Thursday Feb. 11, 2010, in The Willows, Bellevue.
He was born March 5, 1913, in Fireside, the son of the late Edwin and Susie (Good) Matz. Edmund was a retired brakeman and conductor for the NKP and N&W railroads. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bellevue Eagles Aerie 490, Bellevue Elks Lodge 1013, Clyde Eagles Aerie 2291 and Clyde Moose 393.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (Wetzel) Matz; son, Edmund D. (Nancy) Matz Jr. of Bellevue; daughters, Judy DeWitt of Bellevue and Barbara (William) Marquardt of Castalia; grandchildren, Edmund (Kate) Matz III, Catherine Collins, Jeff Cox, David (Kim) Cox, Tonya (Steve) Schaffer, Tamara (Jude) Mariea, Tina (Chris) Turner, Todd (Amy) Dewitt, Thomas Dewitt and Troy (Leslie) Dewitt; great-grandchildren, Monica, Kyle, Janice, Austin, Chloe, Carmen, Logan, Lauren, Morgan, Dylan, Shelby, Tristan, Lindsey, Amber, Sydney, Kendall and Jordyn.
In addition to his parents, his brother E. Russell Matz; and infant sister, Barbara, preceded him in death.
Friends will be received from noon Tuesday until services begin at 1 p.m. in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest St., Bellevue. Burial will follow in Flat Rock Cemetery.
