Barbara A. “Petie” Pettiford, 76, of Fremont, passed away on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 in Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 3, 1938, in Fremont, daughter of Guy Haskins and Mary E. (Lewis) Ferguson. She attended Fremont Ross High School and obtained her GED in 1997.
Barbara married Thomas A. Pettiford Sr. on Nov. 26, 1969, in Fremont and he preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 2012.
Barbara worked as an assembler at Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde and retired in 1997 after 25 years of service.
She was a member of First Baptist Missionary Church and The United Way First Call for Help for 19 years. She enjoyed traveling, bowling and spending time with her family.
Barbara is survived by her children, Charlene Y. Fisher, Janie M. Davis, Barbara Y.
Fisher, Sammy Davis Jr., Deborah S. (Robert) Wade and Ronda K. (Willie) Brown, all of
Fremont; stepchildren, Cheryl Pettiford Agnew, of Cleveland, Thomas Pettiford Jr., of Fremont, Terrence Keith (Joe Ann) Pettiford Sr., of Las Vegas, and Anthony “Tony” (Alisha) Gant, of Maumee, Ohio; siblings, Penny Ferguson, of Buffalo, N.Y., and Jeffery Ferguson, of Fremont; stepsiblings, Lincoln, Jim, Jewell and Liz Ferguson, all of Joliet, Ill.; seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Pettiford Sr; parents; stepson, Robert Pettiford; and brothers, Mike, Ralph and Tyrone Ferguson.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, until a funeral service at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Missionary Church, 1699 Dickenson St., Fremont. Pastor William Holmes will officiate. Burial will be at 11a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Oakwood Cemetery.
