Dalton A. Shade, 93, of Norwalk, and formerly of Willard, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, in Norwalk Memorial Home.
He was born Dec. 19, 1920, in Richmond Township, Huron County, to Earl C. and Anna M. (Ebinger) Shade. Dalton attended a one room school through the eighth grade and graduated in 1939 from Willard High School.
Dalton was a retired farmer, carpenter, and building contractor, and built many homes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in World War II in England where he was an aircraft electrician. Dalton enjoyed making clocks, small shelves, and furniture to sell at craft shows and flea markets with his wife.
He is survived by his brothers, Herbert (Marilyn) Shade of Republic, Ohio, and Robert (Carol) Shade of Willard; sisters, Mildred Sweet of Norwalk, Evelyn Baxter of Willard, and Viola Snook of Willard; sisters-in-law, Viola Scherz of Norwalk, and Pauline Shade of Attica; brother-in-law, Leland Keegan of Vickery; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dalton was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Keegan) Shade; brothers, Willard Shade, Charles Shade and Ernest Shade; and by his sister-in-law, Hazel Frank.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, until services at 11 a.m., at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Rev. Adrian Doll, Pastor of the Norwalk First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Parkhurst Cemetery, Bellevue.
