James A. "Jamie" Dickman

Apr 11, 1982 - Jan 26, 2014

James A. "Jamie" Dickman, age 31, of Perrysburg, Ohio, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, doing the job he loved, fighting a fire for the City of Toledo.

Jamie was born April 11, 1982, in Sandusky, to Greg and Linda (Williams) Dickman, and grew up desiring to be a firefighter. Following high school graduation in 2000, Jamie attended EHOVE Fire School and fulfilled his dream, joining the Perkins Township Fire Department. A hard worker and excellent provider, Jamie also owned and operated his own cleaning business, New Image Cleaning for five years, and worked construction on the side.

In 2013, after graduation from the Toledo Fire Academy, Jamie was hired by the Toledo Fire Department where he was proudly employed as a firefighter and advanced EMT. Jamie was never happier with his work than he was with TFD and his brotherhood of firefighters. He was a member of Local 92.

Jamie was very involved with the music ministry at his church, The Chapel, in Sandusky, where he played both bass and electric guitar. In 2010, he went on a mission trip to Haiti with his church to help that country rebuild. Jamie found the mission trip to be a life changing experience, learning to more deeply appreciate the abundance of blessings we have in this country and those he had in his personal life.

Jamie will be remembered for his big-heart and his caring personality, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend who made this world a better place.

He is survived by his wife, Jamie N. (Young) Dickman, whom he married Oct. 25, 2003; three-year old daughter, Paige and one-month old son, Grant; his parents, Greg and Linda Dickman; sisters, Olivia Cheney and Caitlin Dickman; maternal grandmother, Estle Williams; his wife's parents, Ray and Dolly Young; his wife's siblings, Joshua (Trista) and Jason (Kira) Young and Julie (Jon) Torrence; eleven nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

His grandparents, Eugene and Gladys Dickman, and Oliver Williams preceded Jamie in death.
