Robert D. Valentine, 95, of Sandusky, and formerly of Attica, Ohio, died Wednesday morning, April 21, 2010, in Ohio Veterans Home.
He was born July 20, 1914, in Bloomville, to Charles and Jessie (Hossler) Valentine. He married Alice M Tusing April 30, 1948, in Attica, and she died April 1, 2004.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Janet (Roger) Post of Sandusky; a son, Larry R. (Sharon) Valentine of Warahachie, Texas; a granddaughter, Kayla Valentine of Warahachie; a brother, Stanley Valentine of Fremont; and a sister, Mary Hudson of Fremont.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, George, Russell, Harold, Cecil, Leslie, and Richard Valentine, and two sisters, Bernita Schoonmaker and Gertrude Barnhart.
Mr. Valentine worked as a janitor at RR Donnelley in Willard until he retired. He was a WW II Army veteran, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater as a truck driver and mechanic. He was a 60-year and life member of Victory American Legion Post 260 in Attica.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 South Ohio 19 Bloomville, with the Rev. Pamela J. Sayre of Attica United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Bloomville.
