Karen L. Terry, 63, of Lakeside-Marblehead, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, in her residence with her family by her side.
She was born Feb. 23, 1950, in Berea, Ohio, the daughter of Edward and Jeanetta (Crooks) Bird. She was a 1968 graduate of John Marshall High School in Cleveland, Ohio, and then went to Lorain Community College where she received her Associate of Arts degree in Elementary Education.
Karen worked as a manager at the National City Bank Headquarters in Cleveland and later as a letter carrier and supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in the Cleveland area. She was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church in Lakewood, Ohio, life member of VFW in Valley City, Ohio, member of the American Legion in Marathon, Fla., and member of the Moose Lodge in Big Pine Key, Fla. She enjoyed traveling between their homes in the Florida Keys, Kelleys Island and Marblehead, going for long walks with her dog, Tia, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, John “Jack” Terry, whom she married Nov. 27, 1987; daughter, Kathleen (Walter) Krzynowek of Litchfield, Ohio; son, Michael Rancour of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Ryan, Sean, and Alexa Krzynowek; brothers, Michael (Josie) Bird of Lakewood, Ohio, Jack (Virginia) Bird of Adairsville, Ga., Robert Bird of Clyde, Edward (Linda) Bird of Medina, Ohio; nieces and nephews; and her ex-husband,Thomas Rancour.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Medina United Methodist Church, 4747 Foote Road, Medina.
