Elizabeth J. “Betty” Myers, 82, of Norwalk, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 22, 1931, in Monroeville, to Harlan and Ruth Esther (Rossman ) Stang, and was a lifelong area resident.
Betty was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she volunteered for Bingo, preparing food for funeral luncheons, baked pies for the Helping Hands ministry, and worked at the Parish Festival. She was a former employee of Norwalk Truck Lines, Fisher’s Meat Market, and Gardner’s Cardinal Market. Betty enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking, gardening and canning, cake decorating, and playing cards.
She is survived by her children, Judy and Dave Wunderley of White House, Ohio, Jeff and Barb Myers of Norwalk, Betsy and Ron Smith of Greenville, Ohio, Mike Myers of Norwalk, Tony and Cyndi Myers of Berlin Heights, Jackie and Jerry Ryan of Norwalk, and Gwen and Kevin Schreiner of Monroeville; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren, with two new babies arriving in June; siblings, William and Felicia Stang of Monroeville, Norbert and Grace Stang of Monroeville, Frederick and Maryellen Stang of Monroeville, Marianne and George Tullos of Galatin, Tenn., and Ronald Stang of Monroeville; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Stang of Norwalk, and Lois Stang of Monroeville; many nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Joanne Miller of Norwalk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Myers Jr., in 2010; great-grandsons, Tyller Myers and Will Rismiller; brothers Kenneth and Charles Stang; and by her sister, Susan Johnson.
Friends may call 3-7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23, at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St., Monroeville. Rev. William Pifher will officiate. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
