Mollie Joyce Beier passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, in Parkcliffe Alzhiemer’s Community at Northwood.
Born Oct. 3, 1932, and raised in Norwich, England, Mollie met her husband David while he served in the U.S. Air Force. At the age of 21, Mollie, along with her 10 month old son Mark, left her family in England and sailed to the U.S. where she was later joined by her husband after completing his tour of duty.
Mollie and her husband lived in Sandusky from 1953-1973, raising three children. She worked at the Erie County Sheriff's Department and later at the Scott Paper Company. The family then moved to Woodhaven, Mich., after her husband David was promoted to the UAW Solidarity House in Detroit in 1973. Upon retirement Mollie and David migrated to Stuart Florida where she lived until 2012.
Mollie loved to golf and also enjoyed traveling. In her later years, Mollie's passion was raising her two West Highland Terriers Misty and Robbie. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and a great friend to those who were close to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David in 1994, and is survived by two sons, Mark (Debra), John (Michelle) and a daughter, Debra. She also is survived by five grandchildren and three great-grand children.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Parkcliffe Alzhiemer's Community at Northwood and Gentiva Hospice for Mollie's excellent care.
A private service will be held at the Oakland Cemetery Chapel in Sandusky.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation in memory of Mollie to the Humane Society of Erie County at humanesocietyoferiecounty.org.
