Warren Wayne Jensen

Warren Wayne Jensen, 93, born Dec. 30, 1920, of Howell, Mich., and formerly of St. Petersburg, Fla., Fostoria, Ohio, and Sandusky, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014.

He leaves his wife, Nadean H. Jensen, and caring family with memories of his love for family and people, his joy and sense of humor, and his zest of adventure for life.

He was born in Sandusky, and was a 1938 graduate of Sandusky High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in Sept.,1942, and served as Staff Sergeant in the 12th Marine, 3rd Division, and experienced Pacific combat duty in Bougainville, Guam, and Iwo Jima. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

Warren was a charter member of the Castalia Lion’s Club, and served in Lions for 30 years. He and his wife owned a grocery store, Nye’s Food Giant, in Fostoria, for 17 years, and Warren worked for Scheck’s Super Market headquartered in Findlay, Ohio.

They moved to Florida in 1982, and enjoyed sunshine life for almost 30 years, where Warren worked for Mr. C’s SuperMarket in Sarasota, Fla., and Danka Corporation, in Tampa, Fla. Warren was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church. In 2010, they moved to Howell, Mich., and resided with their daughter and family.

Warren is survived by his wife, Nadean Hoyt Jensen, (recently celebrating 72 years of marriage); children, son, Laron Jensen, and daughter, Luanne (Steve) Bibbee of Howell; four grandchildren, Tara (Scott) Johnson of White Lake, Mich., Lisa Bibbee, of Santa Cruz, Calif., Jessica Bibbee, of Brighton, Mich., and Jonathan (Stephanie) Jensen, of Abu Dhabi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence P. Jensen and Louisa Maschke Jensen, of Sandusky; brother, Lloyd Jensen; sister, Mary (Ray) Behnke; and brother, Donald Jensen; several nieces, nephews, and many life-long friends.

A public memorial service with military honors will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Borek-Jennings Funeral Home, Howell, officiated by Rev. Herbert Wilson Jr. of 1st Baptist Church of Howell.
