Garrett Benjamin Holmes, 16, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, in an automobile accident near his home.
He was born at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash., while his father was serving in the U.S. Army. His parents, Gary and Carrie (Berhent) Holmes returned to Ohio shortly after his birth.
He attended all of his school years in the Bellevue School system. Garrett was a junior who enjoyed computers, his dogs, camping on Kelleys Island and spending time with family and friends. He was kind-hearted, friendly, hardworking and funny young man who will be missed by all.
He is survived by his parents; sister, Hailey Holmes; paternal grandfather, Gary (Wanda) Holmes Sr.; and paternal grandmother, Denise Kay Holmes of Port Clinton; great-grandmother, Ilene Edwards of Staumbaugh, Ky.; paternal great-grandfather, Thomas Holmes; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Linda Berhent of Marblehead; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends.
The family has chosen to celebrate Garrett’s life privately. Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue is assisting the family.
