Robert L. Pollard Sr., 62, of Sandusky, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 11, 2013, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
Robert was born July 17, 1951, in Marlow, Ala., to the union of Lillie Mae Hollinger and William Hollinger (Harry Jones raised Robert like he was his own son).
Robert leaves to cherish his memory a host of family and friends, including best friend for life, Nina Pollard Charlton; daughters, Robin Pollard Briggs, Roberta Pollard, and Tashia Ferguson; sons, Lamar Ferguson, Robert Jr., and Robert Samuel McBeth; brothers, Lydell, Odell, Dean, and Tyrone; sisters, Diane Sledge, Sue Barnett, and Diane Jones; special friends, Seman Johnson, Ben Darden, and Bertha Dickerson; god daughter, Shina Clarke; special cousins, Lillie Brown and Bo Reed; special nieces, Felecia, Yashicka , Shania, Velma, Diane, Patricia, Toni, and Tyme; special nephews, Mark, Lavaro, Christopher, Lamont, Robert, Spencer, Malcolm, and Adrian; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Beatrice Stevenson, Linda Hollinger, and Agnes, in infancy; brothers, Harry Jones Jr., Vernell Jones, Nate Hollinger, Harold Hollinger, and William Hall; grandmother, Mary Pollard; grandfather, Henry Pollard; aunts, Eva Reed and Ella Farris; and cousins, Francis, Dennis, and Clifford Reed, and Walter, Wilbert “Kool Aid”, and Dorothy Farris.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until funeral services at noon, Thursday, Dec. 19, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Albert Porter will officiate. Following services, cremation will take place, per Robert’s wishes.
