Edward C. Hansen, 97, of Huron, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, in Parkvue Healthcare Center, Sandusky.
He was born Oct. 18, 1916, in Detroit, and was a resident of Huron for the past 28 years, having previously resided in Rocky River, Ohio.
Ed grew up in a Danish family, was active in the Danish community and proud of his Danish heritage for his entire life. Ed was involved in the Civil Air Patrol program during the war. After the war in 1946 he married the love of his life Ann Good. Ed was a successful salesman for over 40 years, serving various companies including Foster Grant in Sandusky. Ed retired in 1986.
During his retirement years he generously shared his carpentry skills with many friends and organizations including Victory Kitchen and the First Presbyterian Church of Huron. His love of books and his meticulous organization translated into numerous hours volunteering for the gathering, sorting and cataloging for the annual book sale benefiting Goodwill Industries of Sandusky.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ann (Good) Hansen; a daughter, Ann Linvill Pardue of Orlando, Fla.; a son, Chris (Jan) Hansen of Overland Park, Kan.; and four grandchildren, Kirsten Linvill of Orlando, Fla., Andrea Hansen of Chicago, Lauren Hansen of Madison, Wis., and Erik Hansen of Overland Park.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, until services at 10:30 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 225 Williams St., Huron, Rev. Dr. Ann Marie Montgomery will officiate.
