Melvin T. Scheid, 76, of Norwalk died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, in Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
He was born July 19, 1933, in Monroeville, son of the late William A. and Arineta M. (Bishop) Scheid and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Norwalk, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Melvin was a 39-year employee of International Medal Hose Company, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed farming and woodworking. He was the Peru Township Clerk for many years and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Melvin in survived by his daughter, Marica J. Smith of Norwalk; son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Jean Scheid of Hebron, Ky.; grandchildren, Stephanie Scheid and Matt Pointer, Kyle Scheid, Jennifer and Fernando Filpo, Robert Smith, Tiffany Scheid, Jackie Smith and Craig Scheid; great-grandchildren, McKenna Pointer and Trent Scheid; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Sue Scheid of Sandusky and Dale and Sharon Scheid of Monroeville; sister and brother-in-law, Verna and John Beiler of Bellevue; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Friday in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. Saturday until service at 11 a.m. in St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Ave., Norwalk. The Rev. Fred Wiechers will officiate. Interment will be in St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery, Pontiac.
