Cheryl J. Usher-Schenk, 51, residing in Norwalk, died unexpectedly early Friday afternoon, July 1, 2011, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
She was born Dec.10, 1959, in North Olmsted, Ohio to James Burton and Virginia Marie (Zeigler) Usher.
Cheryl had been the groundskeeper for Edison’s birthplace and was a self-employed painter and artist, painting many murals and signs in the Norwalk-Milan area for many years.
She was a member of Milan American Legion Post 527 Women’s Auxiliary. Cheryl enjoyed going to Cedar Point and riding roller coasters, horseback riding, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Schenk, whom she married April 15, 1992; her daughter, Heather V. Schenk at home; two sisters, Laura Tobak of Cincinnati and Karen Chevarria of Sandusky; one half sister Jean Ann Corwin of Poland, N.Y., one half brother Rod Usher of Frankfort, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, in Groff Funeral Home, 1 S. Main St. Milan. The Rev. Bill Enderle will officiate.
Burial will be in Milan Cemetery.
