Howard L. Landoll, 87, of Norwalk, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, in Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 16, 1926, in Bedford, Ohio, son of the late Aloysius and Laura (Rummel) Landoll. He attended St. Paul High School and was drafted during World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46. He worked 29 years at Clevite and Tennaco in Milan.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a life member of the Norwalk VFW Post 2743. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and volunteering at the Veterans Home and was a member of the Catholic War Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maryann (Hipp) Landoll, whom he married Nov. 25, 1950; sons, James (Anita) Landoll, of Chatham, Va., and Ron Landoll, of Norwalk; daughter, Karen (Steve) Lane, of Monroeville; grandson, Andrew Landoll; sister, Marguerite Riley, of Norwalk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Haas; and brother, Harold Landoll.
Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Nathan Bockrath, associate pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Paul Cemetery.
