Frank J. Ratta, 83, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, Nov. 14, 2013, at his home.
He was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Kearny, N.J., son of the late Gregorio Angelo and Carmella (Biaca) Ratta. Frank was a 1954 graduate of the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. Frank was a pharmacist at Sandusky Drug Mart for many years, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of Faith Memorial Assembly of God, the Sandusky Rotary Club and a former member and president of the Maumee Rotary Club.
Frank is survived by his wife, Joan E. (Knapp) Ratta; two sons, Mark (Charlene) Ratta, of Toledo, and Matthew (Kelly) Ratta, of Santa Clara, Calif.; a daughter, Carol Bean, of Florida; and five grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ratta; two brothers, Anthony and Pasqule Ratta.
At his request there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Faith Memorial Assembly of God, 1320 E. Strub Road, Sandusky. The Rev. Kenneth L. Hiser will officiat. Inurnment will be in the Christ Episcopal Church Columbarium, Huron.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Rotary Club of Sandusky, P.O. Box 717, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the American Cancer Society, 20470 Lorain Road, Cleveland, OH 44126, in Franks' memory.
