Eva Blanche (Jarrett) Washburn Trinter, 93, of Vermilion, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born Jan. 13, 1917, in Sandusky, and was a Vermilion resident for 69 years, moving from Sandusky. Eva was a 1936  graduate of Sandusky High School and worked as a secretary for the Agriculture Administration in Sandusky. She also worked as a substitute rural carrier in Vermilion for 25 years and worked on the election board.

She was a member of United Church of Christ Congregational and was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church at the time of her death. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau, Vermilion Grange, Aural Club in Axtel, 50-year member of Madeleine Chapter 204 Order of the Eastern Star, and one of the original members of the Lioness Club. She enjoyed farming, reading, sewing, quilting and crocheting.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanita (Al) Schafer of Vermilion; son, Loren (Donna) Washburn of Vermilion; stepdaughters, Carolyn (Ron) Cull of Milan and Ellen (the late Ray) MacFarlane of Thiensville, Wis.; stepsons, Charles (Barbara) Trinter of Vermilion and Russell (Susan) Trinter of Rapid City, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, James (Mildred) Jarrett of Sandusky; and sisters, Alberta (Clarence) Popke of Sandusky and Betty (the late Wayne) Roesch of Sandusky. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Washburn in 1976; second husband, Donald Trinter in 2003; parents, James and Blanche (Barnes) Jarrett; and five brothers, William, Henry, Paul, Max and Joe Jarrett.

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, where an Eastern Star service will be at 6 p.m. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Louis Bertoni and the Rev. Bill Seith co-officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
