Robert L. Smith, 81, of Sandusky, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 29, 2013, in his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Upper Sandusky, and lived in the Sandusky area most of his adult life. Bob was a salesman, having worked for the former A. W. Roberts & Sons, the Ohio Edison Company, and Mr. Wiggs. He was also a real estate agent for Disbrow Realty, and co-owned the former B & R Appliances.
Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sandusky, where he was chairman of the Liturgical Property & Support Ministry. He was a former ham radio operator, with the call letters 'WB8QCP' and was an avid Lyman boater.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Helen A. Kosel; four daughters, Linda L. (Bill) Ewers of Sandusky, Connie L. (Denny) Cole of Fremont, Theresa R. (Donald) Winkle of Vandalia, Ohio, and Lee Ellen (Jack) Dickman of Idaho; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his first wife, June DeVol of Vandalia, Ohio; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys (Bowlby) Smith; one grandson, Adam Mikusa; two brothers, Nelson and Harold Smith; and one sister, Louise Welling.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, until funeral services at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills St., Sandusky. The Rev. Timothy Nilsen will officiate. At the request of the deceased, cremation will follow.
