Luther Marion Dick, 93, a long time resident of Catawba Island, died Oct. 17, 2013, in Avon Park, Fla.
He was born in Hogue, Ky., April 11, 1920. He was the third son of John Thomas Dick and Mary McWhorter Dick.
He was married to Jessie Juanita Lefler, Oct. 4, 1939. The couple moved to Ohio and became residents of Catawba Island in 1946 when Luther became one of the first employees of New Departure Division of General Motors in Sandusky. Luther would continue to work there until his retirement. After retirement, Luther and Jessie would live on Catawba during summers, and in Avon Park in the winter.
Luther is survived by his daughter, Betty Jean Hall of Orient, Ohio; and son, David and daughter-in-law Susie of Oak Point, Texas; four granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie; and granddaughter, Lori Jean.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton Chapel, until funeral services at 2 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery. Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader will be officiating.
