Craig A. McCloskey, 70, residing in Sandusky, passed away Friday afternoon, Oct. 18, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
Craig was born Oct. 3, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio, to Richard and Deloris (Voigt) McCloskey.
Craig graduated from St. Mary's Central Catholic High School in 1961, and was a veteran of the Air Force National Guard. He was retired from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 42 in Norwalk, and the U.A. National Union in Washington D.C.
Craig was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Huron, the American Legion, Remember Crusin' Car Club, and the Harley Owners Group. In his spare time he enjoyed drag racing, watching golf and tennis on TV, dancing, and playing the banjo. He was an avid car enthusiast, he enjoyed building and driving classic cars and attending car shows. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Craig is survived by his wife, Arlene (Branam) McCloskey; three sons, Craig (Robin Fries) McCloskey II of Sandusky, Jason (Lindsey) McCloskey of Modesto, Calif., and Shane (Marissa Mongiello) McCloskey of Venice Beach, Calif.; grandchildren, Casey, Jacob, Connor, and Luke; sister, Tam (Bill) Dzubak of Columbus, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky, with Father Jeffrey McBeth presiding.
