Fred Church, age 77, of Berlin Township, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, in home following a brief illness.
He was born May 15, 1936, in Lomansville, Ky., and lived in the area for over 50 years. He worked at Van Dresser in Norwalk for 20 years and retired from Quickie Designs in Avon Lake in 2001. He was an avid hunter and loved woodworking.
Fred is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie (Lyons); his children, Bonnie (Carl) Kamm of Berlin Township; Chris (Ed) Walton of Berlin Township, James “Fred” (Diane) Church of Milan; a brother, Worth Church of Wakeman; a sister-in-law, Joanne Church of Huron; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Worth and Nora (Charles) Church; brothers, Homer and Okel “Sonny” Church; three sisters, Opel Cordle, Irene Cordle, and LouVerne McKnight.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South St., Berlin Heights. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the funeral home, Pastor Gary Dean will be officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
