Thomas E. Kennedy, 86, Palm Harbor, Fla., and formerly of Huron, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, in Suncoast Hospice, Palm Harbor.
He was born in New Castle, Pa., and moved to Oldsmar, Fla., from Huron in 1988.
He worked for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroads from 1951-1956, and was a pipe fitter for Ford Motor Co. in Sandusky, retiring in 1986 after 31 years. Tom was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II, and also was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner.
He is survived by his sons, Timothy T. (Jewel) Kennedy of St. Cloud, Fla., and Thomas C. (Sandra) Kennedy of Castalia; step sons, Alfred A. (Judith) McCloy of Palm Harbor, and Terry (Judith) McCloy of Stuart, Fla.; step daughter, Marlene McDaniel of Cincinnati; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Hite of Erie, Pa., and Mariellen Fletcher of New Castle, Pa.; special friend, Enid Scala; special niece, Kathy O’Loughlin; numerous other nieces and nephews; and his four legged son, Pepe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (McCloy) Kennedy; grandson, James T.B. Kennedy; brothers, Jack Kennedy and Bill Kennedy; and a son-in-law, Clete McDaniel.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Tom will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Sandusky Yacht Club, 529 E. Water St., Sandusky. The Science Lodge 50 F. & A.M. will hold memorial services, and the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard will provide the military tribute.
