Dewey J. Caldwell, age 67, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 1, 2013.
He was born in Hyden, Ky., to James and Molly (Collett) Caldwell. Dewey graduated from Margaretta High School in 1964, and retired from Ford Motor Company after 28 years of service. He was a devoted man of Christ, and lived his life that way.
Dewey was also a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid hunter and outdoors man and a member of many wildlife programs.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis (Eldridge) Caldwell; five sons, James (Tina) Caldwell, Timothy (Kim) Caldwell, Jason (Katie) Caldwell, Joseph Caldwell, and Joshua Caldwell; two daughters, Kimberly (Gene) Bartish, and Tammy (Rick) Schippel; 13 grandchildren, Cory, Kyle, Adam, Cody, David, Jessica, Matthew, Tiffany, Jennifer, Andrew, Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Brianna; one great granddaughter, Lillian; very special nephew, that was like a son to him, Larry Caldwell; close friend Tim (Dorothy) Scott; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, James and Molly Caldwell; and two brothers, James and Larry Caldwell.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Second Chance Chapel, 5412 Schenk Road, Sandusky. Pastor Donald Greene will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
