James Kennedy Nichols, 89, of Ionia, Mich., passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, in Grand Rapids, Mich.
He was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Highland Park, Mich., to James and Kathleen (Everitt) Nichols.
James married Nancy Ann Sausser May 9, 1953, in Sandusky.
He was a graduate of Ionia High School, Albion College, and Capital Law School. James was a Army veteran of WWII in the South Pacific.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ionia, Michigan Bar Association, VFW and Elks Club.
James is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy Nichols of Ionia; children, Kim (Leslie) Nichols, of Ada, David (Julie) Nichols, of Ohio, and Eric (Tracy), of Greenville; half brothers, Richard (Charlene) Nichols, of Florida, and Robert (Irene) Nichols, of Kentucky; grandchildren, Chad, Brian, Erika, Kevin, Kathleen, Mackenzy, Erin and Caroline; and great-grandchildren, Conner and Raphael.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and one brother, George.
Memrial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at First Presbyterian Church in Ionia. The Rev. Clifton will officiate. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Highland Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions maybe made in James’s name to First Presbyterian Church of Ionia or Ionia Public School’s Athletic Department.
