David W. Graves, 73, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 24, 2013, in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
David was born July 14, 1940, in Sandusky, son of the late Fulton and Clara (Bryant) Graves. David was a 1959 Sandusky High School graduate. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who proudly served his country from 1960-64. He retired from Columbia Gas after 30 years of service as a meter reader, and worked as a custodian for CAC, the Community Action Program of Huron and Erie Counties.
David was a member of Emmanuel Temple Church in Sandusky for 22 years, where he also dedicated his service on the usher board, Brotherhood Department, and was an avid prayer warrior. David was known as a classy shopper. He enjoyed walking and watching classic movies, especially westerns. He was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with his family.
David is survived by three sisters, Margery Graves Anderson, Lois Graves Belle and Janet McDaniel; two brothers, Richard and Larry Graves; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his two sisters, Barbara Graves and Joyce Graves Hill, and two brothers, Fulton and Donald Graves.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, until funeral services at noon at Emmanuel Temple Church, 128 E. Adams St., Sandusky. Bishop Rufus Sanders will preside. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
