Norman R. Gulbransen, 70, of Sandusky, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 25, 2013 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 24, 1942, in Ishpeming, Mich., and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1961-67. Norman retired from General Motors after 18 years and worked for Mahle in Tennessee as a tool & die maker.
He was a member of American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, and a life member of the National Rifle Association. Norman was an avid hunter, being a member of the North American Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Winifred (Christian) Gulbransen; children, Susan (Jerry) Hunt and Wayne Rhuda, of Sandusky, Bernard (Deborah) Rhuda, of Holbrook, Mass., Sharon Bailey, of Scottsdale, Ariz., David (Denise) Rhuda, of Lake Whales, Fla., Cheryl (Tom) Lyons, of Monroeville, Warren (Sue) Rhuda, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Linda (Gary) Kalizewski, of Norwalk; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; mother, Eleonore (Ahtonen) Gulbransen, of Russellville, Tenn.; brothers, Dennis Gulbransen, of Russellville,and Ronald Gulbransen of Martinville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norman G. Gulbransen; grandchild, Melissa; and a sister, Peggy Wightman.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, until funeral services at 3 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. American Legion Post 83 will present a military tribute following the funeral service.
