Eugene S. Vaughan, 88, of Sandusky, formerly of Cleveland, was called home to his Lord and Savior Aug. 26, 2013, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Crestline, Ohio, the son of Speir C. and Kathleen (Girard) Vaughan.
Eugene enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Dec. 7, 1942, and was discharged Nov. 2, 1945. Eugene re-enlisted in the Marines November 26, 1956. He served his Country for 20 years and retired as a Gunnery Sargent July 23, 1973. After his retirement he became a resident at the Ohio Veteran’s Home in April 1978, where he enjoyed playing Bingo and his many friends.
Eugene was predeceased by his three brothers, Robert, Gerald, and Girard Vaughan.
His is survived by his sister, Sharon Wright of Washington; uncle Gene is also survived by many nieces and nephews; several great nephews and great nieces; as well as great-great nephews and great-great nieces, who all loved him and will miss him.
At his request no visitation will be held and cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, in Giffin Chapel, Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Fr. Tommy Rodrigues officiating. Interment will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery.
