Jean L. Skiles, 87, Bellevue, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, in her home.
She was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Bellevue, the daughter of Paul J. and Lorena (Martin) Aigler. She married Glenn Skiles on Dec. 4, 1956, at her family’s farm on Northwest Street in Bellevue. He preceded her in death Nov. 17, 1990.
Jean was a 1944 graduate of York High School. She attended the Flower Hospital School of Nursing in the Cadet Nursing program, where she became a registered nurse. She worked at the Bellevue Hospital as a R.N. until her retirement in 1987. She was an active member of Seybert U.M.C., where she was also a member of the Methodist Women’s Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and reading.
She is survived by her sister, Margery “Peggy” Aigler of Bellevue; five children, Bob (Linda) Skiles, Paul (Rick) Skiles, Tim (Nola) Skiles, Wendy (Mark) David, and Matt Skiles, all of Bellevue; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, David L. Skiles.
Friends will be received 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the funeral home, Rev. Bruce Kent officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
