Brad G. Fitzthum, 49, Sandusky, passed away late Monday morning, Sept. 16, 2013, in his home after a lengthy illness.
Born April 18, 1964, in Sandusky, the son of Eugene Frederick and Geraldine Catherine (Engel) Fitzthum Sr., Brad was a 1982 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a chef, having worked for various local restaurants throughout the years. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians.
Brad is survived by his father, Eugene F. "Gene" Fitzthum Sr., and his step mother, Elaine E. (Mapus) Fitzthum of Sandusky; a sister, Colleen M. Wolf of Sandusky; his brothers, Robert (Sue) Fitzthum of Wichita, Kan., Eugene F. "Dusty" (Donna) Fitzthum Jr. of Sandusky, James E. (Diane) Fitzthum of Sandusky, and Barry G. (Tana) Fitzthum of Amboy, Wash.; two step sisters, Jane (Richard) Gangwisch of Sandusky, and Lisa (Mark) Krause of Nevada; companion, Vickie "Lynn" Grunden of Sandusky; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine C. (Engel) Fitzthum, Nov. 29, 1970; and step brother, Mark E. Wilhelm.
At his request, no visitation will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Fr. Michael Roemmele officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Interment will be held later in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
